Office 2010 Excel Charts and Data Import/Export
 Description
This 3-hour course is designed for competent Excel users.  Students will learn how to create, modify and link charts.  Students will also learn the various types of data that can be imported into Excel and exported into other office programs. RCOE will bill districts as per the service agreement at the rate of $65 per person (without certification) or $100 per person (with certification) or at the group rate of (10 or more people) of $55 per person (without certification) or $90 per person (with certification).  Three hour classes are billed at $50 per person (without certification) or $65 per person (with certification) or at the group rate (10 or more people) of $40 per person.  There is never a charge for Galaxy Training or for RCOE employees.

Galaxy Budget
 Description
This course covers Galaxy aspects of the budget process including: rates, personnel, revenue, and expenses and working with the Galaxy Budget screens. Inquiry Support Session – Differentiation for Special Populations
 Description
Satellite 2 Differentiation for Special Populations:  Highly Effective Teachers Believe That All Children Can Learn and Be Successful Differentiation for Special Populations will support teachers in deepening their understanding of the struggles challenging some students at all levels in school. Participants will examine a backwards design model that will help them align differentiation and intervention strategies to students’ learning needs. They will also review their legal and ethical obligations relative to the full range of special populations; i.e., students receiving special education services, English learners, students with disabilities, advanced learners, and students with a combination of special instructional needs. Participants will discuss effective and practical variations in classroom strategies that will foster success for all students of diverse abilities, environments, needs, and learning styles.

 Description
Satellite 1 Effective Teaching Practices:  Techniques That Raise Academic and Behavioral Expectations (Secondary) Classroom management is a skill that is not only learned but practiced daily.  The focused outcomes of this session will assist novice teachers in building a strong and vibrant classroom culture.  Participants will have an opportunity to practice research-based tools and techniques that will unlock the talent and skill waiting in his or her students.  Divided into two separate sessions for elementary and secondary teachers, each will provide concrete and specific techniques.  This session will cultivate the teacher's capacity to maximize student learning and create and maintain well-managed classrooms that foster students' physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being.

English Language Development (ELD)/Intensive Intervention for English Learners (4-8)
 Description
In this two-day institute, participants will learn how to effectively implement language arts intensive intervention programs for English learners in grades 4-8 that include ELD, with a focus on long-term English learners.  Participants will learn how to incorporate research-based principles of universal access to provide intensive, accelerated, and extensive English language development that complements and supports reading/language arts intervention instruction.  Participants will also learn how to deliver explicit, sequential, linguistically logical, and systematic instruction with an emphasis on academic language, vocabulary and concept development, sentence structure, grammar, organization and delivery of oral communication, and speaking applications.  Participants are asked to bring their teacher's edition(s) and instructional materials from their ELD/intervention program.

Project and English Learner (EL) Directors 2011-2012 Meetings
 Description
These meetings are for district-level categorical, project and EL directors and coordinators who oversee federal and state projects, Categorical Program Monitoring (CPM), and mandates of Elementary and Secondary Education Act/No Child Left Behind (ESEA/NCLB).  Specialists will share their expertise about federal and state legislative bills and budget updates and hold discussions on topics of interest to the participants such as reauthorization of ESEA, NCLB, Program Improvement (PI), Economic Impact Aid (EIA), CPM, ELs, Title I, and Title III.

Verification Process for Special Settings, Science - Tier 1, Course #S022512
 Description
This course is designed to teach and verify understanding of science fundamental concepts and skills as defined by the Science Content Standards for California Public Schools.  Tier 1 will focus on fundamental aspects of biology, chemistry, physics, and earth science, along with scientific investigation and experimentation.   Optional credit - four extended education units available.  Additional information will be provided on the first day of class.

Satellite 3 Parent Engagement for Student Success Teachers know that students who have support at home will be more successful.  When parents are informed and encouraged to be involved in their child’s education, then student participation and performance improve.  Participants will discuss how to develop personal and positive steps when interacting with challenging parents; learn new ways of inviting and organizing parent volunteers; and increase practical skills for effective, two-way communication to promote learning in the home and school.
